Goodnight Moon

  Aug 09
I have finished and published My CD "Invention"  As I have yet been  unable to secure permission to use the text, "Good Night Moon" will have to wait for my next CD.

Solitude

 May ' 09
I've been spending some time working in a house surrounded on 3 sides by water about 3 hrs from my home. A beautiful setting and no one around. It's easy to focus on the woodworking but there are moments when the slapping of the water and the Blue Herons and the wind whirling through the tall pines bring me to a place of peace and wonderment about this wonderful life.

Malvern Bloom ......Great fun!

   April '09
I played yesterday at Malvern Bloom. Right on the street. We had a blast. Tom Nixon (bass) and Chris Gately (drums) helped deliver a nice punch to my songs. I then played a few songs with Jeff Dominick who is also the music coordinator for the event. We played "One Way Out" and "Stormy Monday" amoung others.
Later, I played a set at the " Beams Music" booth ( I teach 1 day a week at Beams). Mostly Classical Guitar. Ken Meyle, who owns the store and school provided great Sound.

The Art Scene

    Sept '08
The Art Scene is closing. This is a blow to quite a few to local musicians like myself.  I, personally owe a huge debt of gratitude as they sold lots of my CD's and promoted my art in many ways.

3/28/08 Kim

   March '08

Kim comes home for a visit in May. Perhaps we will get to hear her sing....

3/15/08 Lauren does NOT! hop frieght trains.

 March  '08
I just talked to Lauren today.  She sounds content with changing plans and landscapes. In addition to text messages with gps lat and lon  I can almost tell in which town she is hanging because the site traffic on my website increases dramaticly from that town.  I long for the day when we sing together again and I am busting ........thinking about the music she now writes.

Recording a new CD

July '07
I've been having a blast recording a new CD at Al Bien's Springfield Recording Studio. So far I've laid down 15 or so rythum tracks.

Rymond Clemens on Upright Bass is not just holding the bottom together. He's doing so much more! For most of my songs I play a distinct base part as part of my fingerpicking so Raymond is free to play "inside" and sometimes "out" of the folk music. A marvelous friend and such a combination of large talent and spirit.

Chris Gately is playing drums ....or should I say drum.  Mostly snare with brushes and symbols as needed is exactly what is helping define my groove. No kick drum. It makes the phrase "less is more" mean what it does. Great ideas are coming from Chris and a pleasure to work with.

Al Bien is playing guitar as well and always finds just the right thing to play.  I could search for a lifetime and never find the modest but powerfull support Al brings to my music.  He doesn't lament about it he just proceeds......with steam.....beautiful !

My daughter Lauren and her friend Bea will be singing back up with their  own vocal araingements that constantly bring me to tears.

Engineered by Greg Brady ....Here's a guy, a musician, who loves my music and is working harder than I to get it right.....great enthusiasm and musicianship.

This is the project I was always looking for but didn't know it.  This CD will be Grand!

July 8th Music under a shade tree

July 8 '06  (my birthday)

Phoenixville farmers market.......who would think that this would be a venue for great musical entertainment.   I had a hard act to follow ....Spirit wing had the folks energized and raring to go.  I played to weary travelers as chairs and inviting music beaconed to sit a spell and take a load off.  A visit from my friend B. J. Sarkissian was a warm welcome  suprise and he played a few ....including a brand new one about Bush (child king) and the blood running from our young men in war.

   Thanks for the tips!

July 7th Free Jazz in Mt. Joy Pa.

July '06
A hardy thank you to the folks who came out to hear Arc Duo last Friday.  It was the best birthday present I could have asked for.  The level of interest and focus of listeners all around was the catalist for the greatest soul searching, chop maximising, improvization Ray and I have ever rendered.

Thank You!

June 18 Father's day gift.

    June '06
It  ranks as one of the greatest father's day  celebrations I have ever known.  Kimberly travels from NY city to sing on the stage of the Steel City Coffee House as I accompany her  singing songs from blues and jazz to folk and musical.  Days later I am convinced many of her beautiful notes are still lodged in the rafters.    Thanks to all who came out to hear.

    Happy Father's Day!

B.J. Sarkissian and Tamara Sheen 1/29/06

  Jan '06
Last night I had the honor of co-billing with B.J. Sarkissian and Tamara Sheen at the Steel City Coffeehouse in Phoenixville. The tickets sold out  (in part because of a great opener ....Todd Boston) and many  were turned away.  I want to thank B.J. and Tamara for sharing this night with me. The idea that friends who are performing at the top of their  field  hold my art in such esteem humbles me to no end.  This is the quintessential example of  a great  nurturing musical community.

BJ and Tamara  as a duo have never sounded better. From an old  civil war  ballad to BJ's "Hole in My Heart",  the variety and mastery could not have been exceeded.  And Eileen Tipping sitting in on BJ's "Shorty"  gets the grandest  thank you.  For it was she, who invited BJ, and I to her small start up song circle years ago.  She has been the one who has constantly extended a hearty invite and welcome to all who travel to her song circle.  If we are not gigging, you can still find most of us every Tuesday night at Eileen's circle...........Steel City Coffee House , Phoenixville, Pa.

And a huge round of support for the folks at Steel City Coffee House.  Jane, Lance and crew. I can't  say enough about what a great place this is to see live music .........and especially  to play live music.
